FUNicular!

FUNicular!

On Friday, we tried to go to Pisa, but our first train was so delayed that we would have missed our second train, making what was meant to be a quick day-trip into an ordeal. It turned out that half of Florence was heading to the coast for the long weekend, so maybe it was a good thing we missed it. We’ll try again!

Instead, on Sunday we went to Montecatini again, this time by train and funicular. The kids loved the new form of transport โ€“ Guille was interested in the wooden speakers โ€“ and we had a great time at the top exploring quiet neighborhood alleys. Just about the time we were wondering where everyone was, we came across a piazza filled with umbrellas and couches.

The train home was delayed by twice as long as it would’ve taken for us to get home. The famous joke about European stereotypes still stands strong.
“In heaven, the cooks are French, the police are British, the lovers are Italian and everything is organized by the Germans. In hell, the cooks are British, the police are French, the lovers are German and everything is organized by the Italians.โ€
